Training on research proposal writing skills in the field of social sciences and humanities

On May 24, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU- game đánh chắn online đổi thưởng ) started the program "Training on Research Proposal Writing Skills in the Field of Social Sciences and Humanities" under the "Program for Supporting Higher Education Development" (PHER Project) sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The training session was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU and Prof. Sarah Turner - Lecturer at McGill University, Canada and currently a visiting professor at the Faculty of Anthropology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The training session also received special attention from lecturers, staff from training units and functional departments under the school.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities expressed his sincere thanks to Prof. Sarah Turner for taking the time to share her knowledge and skills in writing research proposals with the University's staff. As a leading training and research institution in the social sciences and humanities in Vietnam, the University always aims to improve the quality of training and scientific research of its lecturers and staff. The Vice Rector believes that Prof. Sarah Turner's presentation will bring new aspects and new experiences on how to write a practical and convincing research proposal. 
Prof. Sarah Turner shared at the training session: Designing research objectives and questions is one of the basic skills in scientific research. However, at present, in many training and research institutions around the world, there are still proposals that are not written appropriately and do not meet international standards. The training session focused on solving each problem in research, specifically:
- How to write research questions and research objectives that meet international standards
- Instructions on how to ask short, concise research questions that still attract the attention of readers
- Distinguishing and guiding how to write conceptual frameworks and theoretical bases that meet international standards 
- Advanced awareness of research methods
It is known that the program "Training on Research Proposal Writing Skills in the Field of Social Sciences and Humanities" will last until June 6, 2024, with the following scheduled schedule:
- May 31, 2024 (all day, with lunch): Groups will present their research proposal ideas and receive comments and feedback from professional advisors
- June 1 - 5, 2024: Groups will continue to complete their research proposals according to the professional feedback of advisors
- June 6, 2024: Groups will submit their completed research proposals to the Organizing Committee.
Previously, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities had many cooperation projects with the PHER project and achieved many achievements in building a Research Support Center model with the function of supporting the implementation of research projects, establishing a unit equivalent to an Ethics Council, training to improve the capacity of researchers... 

The PHER project is within the framework of the Higher Education Development Support Program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), a 5-year initiative from 2022 to 2026 to improve the capacity of 3 key higher education institutions in Vietnam (Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Danang University) to develop more sustainably and autonomously in the fields of administration, training, research and connection with businesses, meeting the demand for human resources to serve the industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration of Vietnam. The project is funded by USAID in the form of non-refundable technical assistance and assigned to Indiana University, USA as the implementing unit.
