Internships and extracurricular activities bring practical value to students' learning process
In the report summarizing internship and extracurricular activities presented at the Conference, MA. Pham Van Hue - Deputy Head of the Academic Affairs Office said that the university heavily invested in practical internship activities for students. From 2015 - 2020, internship and extracurricular activities in the country accounted for 89.9% and abroad accounted for 10.1%. From 2020 - 2023, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the number changed to 95.9% in the country and abroad accounted for 4.1%.
Internships and extracurricular activities will help students apply the knowledge they learn at university and in practice, experience the working environment at agencies, organizations, and businesses, and hone their skills and job experience.
According to the survey results, 68.5% of surveyed students rated internship activities as important for students in the learning process, and 76.5% rated internship time as reasonable, 72.2% were satisfied with the internship and practical facilities introduced by the faculty/institute. Internship addresses introduced by the university are reputable agencies, organizations, and businesses, that students can practice per their training major. During the internship and practice process, students receive attention from teachers and have their questions resolved promptly.
Reflecting the wishes of students, MA. Pham Van Hue said that students recommend faculties/institutes to support finding internships early (from the 2nd year), with reputable internship units. The university needs to increase the number of internship duration, organize more field trips as well as make the internship content more experiential.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Management Sciences highly appreciated the university policy in strongly implementing internships for students and proposed open mechanisms for students in these activities.
Dr. Dang Kim Khanh Ly - Head of the Faculty of Sociology proposed that the university expand regulations on internships for students in specific majors

According to Assoc. This aims to open up students to practical training experiences at prestigious higher education institutions in the world, on the other hand, to attract international students to study at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. In 2024, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities plans to attract 1,100 international students to study at the university and participate in cultural exchange activities at many regions in Vietnam.

Concluding the conference, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong directed:
1. Falcuties need to review and send feedback on the Practical Internship Guidance Document at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to the University (through the Academic Affairs Office) before April 5, 2024.
2. Appointed offices and faculties need to announce specific plans to promote internships and extracurricular activities for students in the country outside.
3. Continue to adjust the training program and schedule to ensure favorable conditions for students to complete the internship program.
4. Falcuties need to develop internship plans according to the school year and need to promptly notify internship plans to students, avoid overlapping final exams, ensure the output standards of the course, and ensure compliance with regulations. Expanding connection channels for internship facilities, and share data warehouses about internship facilities to help students under their trained expertise. Creating job opportunities for students after internship and graduation.
5. The Academic Affairs Office coordinates with the Finance and Planning Office to advise the Board of Directors to consider additional funding sources for students, instructors, management and supervision in the future.
