Main research orientations

Regarding academic affairs, the Faculty of History takes basic science as the first and foremost cornerstone in compiling textbooks, lectures and increasing training quality. The Faculty has done its best to enlarge the scope of research and harmoniously combine basic and applied sciences. Its research papers thus cover all the aspects of historical studies. One of its strategic mottos has been to strictly combine training and research. Accordingly, research activities have been considered its primary objective.

With over 60 years of development, the Faculty of History has always been known for its achievements in research activities. Each year, its staff publish averagely over 100 articles on domestic and foreign journals, workshops and conferences; on average, each staff publishes 3 articles/year. Annually, there are more than 10 reference books and textbooks authored and edited by the Faculty's staff. Most of its staff have directly chaired or participated in many research papers and projects at different levels, from game đánh chắn online đổi thưởng level to VNU and State levels (around 10 papers/year).

Professors such as Tran Duc Thao, Dao Duy Anh, Tran Van Giau, Ha Van Tan and Tran Quoc Vuong have received the Ho Chi Minh's Awards; Prof. Phan Huy Le received the Fukuoka International Award of Asian Culture; professors Phan Dai Doan, Phan Huu Dat, Nguyen Thua Hy and Phan Huy Le received the State Awards; professors Tran Quoc Vuong, Ha Van Tan and Pham Thi Tam received awards for prominent research papers from VNU.

The Faculty's current and upcoming research orientations focus on:

  • History of Vietnam's Central and Southern areas.

  • Vietnam's urban areas and urbanization.

  • Domestic and international cultural spheres, spaces and interactions.

  • Vietnam's relations and progress of establishing its sovereignty over the South China Sea.

  • Vietnam's international relations, integration and particular path of development.

  • Asia's maritime trade and relations, the models and paths of development of Asian countries. 

Current prominent research projects and programs

  • State level: Chairing/Authoring/Co-authoring 15 projects of the Program on Vietnamese History.

  • VNU level: Chairing 5 projects.

  • In collaboration with the localities: Chairing 01 paper of the Project for Thang Long Library Stage II; chairing 01 project in collaboration with Dong Trieu district, Quang Ninh province. 

  • International level: chairing 01 project sponsored by Korean Studies Grant-Korea and participating in 01 project sponsored by SEASREP
