Research Center for the Development of Minorities in Mountainous Regions and the Red River Basin

Research Center for the Development of Minorities in Mountainous Regions and the Red River Basin is a center that links and coordinates relevant domestic and external units of Vietnam National University (VNU) to study and consult on the socio-economic development of Vietnamese ethnic minorities. The Center was established by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities by Decree no 35/HĐBT dated January 28th 1992 of the Council of Ministers on the science and technology management according to the regulations of game đánh chắn online đổi thưởng .

Introduction

Functions and missions

  1. Research: Coordinate with the domestic and external faculties and divisions of VNU to study issues related to the socio-economic-cultural development of ethnic minorities in mountainous regions and the Red River basin.

  2. Consult: Consult on issues related to economic development, human resources promotion, poverty alleviation, citizenship improvement, community health, environmental protection, the protection of national sovereignty and social security for ethnic minorities in mountainous regions and the Red River basin.

  3. Social activities: Engage in social activities that contribute to the sustainable development of mountainous regions and Red River basin.

  4. Training: Organize or co-organize short training courses on the socio-economic-cultural development of mountainous and ethnic minorities in Vietnam and the Red River Basin.

  5. Database development: Construct a encyclopedia of the mountainous regions and ethnic minorities in Vietnam (such as local knowledge of ethnicities, customs, religions, beliefs, cultures, etc.)   

Prominent activities

In 2017, the Center performed the following activities

  • Research on the language and script (Nom script) of "Then" folksong of the Tay and Nung peoples in Lang Son province jointly conducted with Prof. David Holm (Chengchi University, Taiwan).  

  • Research on the language and script (Nom script) of the Tay and Nung peoples in Bac Kan province jointly conducted with Prof. Shimizu Maasaki (Osaka University, Japan)

  • Provide professional supervision for advanced interns at game đánh chắn online đổi thưởng , VNU from Guangxi Nationalities University, and Guangdong Foreign Language & Trade University (China)
