Following the success of Competence Assessment Test 2015 for university admission, this year, VNU keeps applying the same test method with further promotion of the achieved results along with more realistic adjustments to perfect the new test method. The 2015 Competence Assessment Test qualified candidates for admission only to VNU affiliates. In 2016, a number of other universities such as Hanoi Metropolitan University, Nguyen Trai University, Da Nang University of Architecture, Nam Dinh University of Technology and Education, etc. collaborate with VNU in administering the test and use its results for their admissions. A new feature is that, this year, VNU administers a 90-minute computer-based foreign language competence assessment test for all the 5 languages. The test consists of 80 multiple-choice questions; its result is valid only for admission to VNU University of Foreign Languages and International Studies and those non-VNU universities and colleges that announced the use of the test result for their admissions within the year of the test. The test for Admission 1 is administered from 05/05/2016 to 08/052016 and from 13/05/2016 to 15/052016; and for Admission 2, from 05/08/2016 to 15/08/2016. Candidates must also select a test date and test location. VNU Competence Assessment Test 2016 is held in the following cities: Hanoi, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Vinh and Da Nang. This year, VNU further improves the test difficulty balancing techniques. Every year, VNU screens the tests to ensure a balanced difficulty among the tests while reasonably supplementing them with new questions. The 2016 test structure is basically the same as that in 2015 – it is divided into compulsory and optional components with 140 questions corresponding to 140 points. The test time allowance is 195 minutes. Additionally, there will be an increase in the number of open-ended questions associated with actual knowledge in this year’s test. The ratio of these questions will be gradually increased to enable candidates’ adaptation. VNU competence assessment test requires extensive knowledge including that from Grades 10, 11 and 12, with a focus on Grade 12. VNU intends to assess the learner’s comprehensive competence based on their high school knowledge combined with that accumulated from life. |
